The Legacy Golf Club

The Legacy Golf Club, rich in heritage and history, is an 18-hole par 71 championship golf course designed by renowned golf course architect Gary Panks. Located on what was once Dwight B. Heard’s 7,500-acre ranch, the golf club is rich in Arizona heritage and history. Taking great pride in preserving and integrating many of the historical structures and monuments, our 18-hole championship golf course offers a unique look and an added opportunity to experience some Arizona history and of the Heard legacy, from which the golf club takes its name. The original two-grain silos, built in 1902, still remain along the 18th fairway and were once the tallest structures in Maricopa County. The Sierra Vista House, which marks the 1st tee, was visited on occasion in the early 1900’s by Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa.

Opened in 1999, our course features lush green fairways, somewhat forgiving roughs, strategically-placed hazards, and well maintained manicured greens providing a challenge and great experience for golfers of all skill levels. Making extensive use of the rolling terrain created by indigenous grasses, flowers, shrubs and trees, the dramatic elevation peaks with exceptional views of Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak and the downtown Phoenix skyline. Maintaining the Heard ranch Spanish mission-style ambiance, The Legacy Golf Club is nestled among the foothills of South Mountain and ideally located in Southeast Phoenix less than 8 miles from Sky Harbor Airport. At 6,908 yards and par 71, The Legacy is not one of the longest courses in the greater Phoenix area, however; it is one of the most enjoyable and offers a unique challenge.

The Legacy was named one of the “Top 10 Golf Courses to Play in Phoenix” by Golf Digest and “Top Public Course in Phoenix” by espn.com/Travel. The Legacy Golf Club was also the host site for the 2000 LPGA Standard Register Ping Classic won by Charlotta Sorenstam. The Grille at The Legacy Golf Club serves traditional American favorites with a Southwestern flair for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which overlooks the 18th hole.
